Beyond their size, small businesses are defined by their spirit. And at the helm are their intrepid founders—scrappy, ambitious, and resilient. They invent and build things despite uncertainty, because it’s what drives them. Their risks lead to innovation that moves the world forward. And we need them.
It is right in downtown QRO. It has cool vibes inside the restaurant. The staff was very friendly and supportive. The language was an issue but somehow managed it. Guacamole was the best part of everything. The overall food quality is good but it’s little bland. There is no parking next to the restaurant however nearby street parking is available.
Been here twice now for brunch and happy hour and I think they have one of the most flavorful and delicious burgers in LA. Love the outdoor courtyard ambiance. Happy hour drinks is a short list of 1 beer, red or white wine and cocktail of the day but I'm okay with that. Valet parking is pricey so if you don't mind a short walk, park in the public Culver City lots on Cardiff or Watseka.
Food selection was good but some items were too salty and others were small portions. Service was good but they did miss one dish and we had them cancel it. We got lattes and they were okay.
Had a great time here last night for happy hour. The courtyard seating and bar is all open air, and it's so lovely. Our server was fantastic. One of the things that most impressed me: my friend asked if they have mocktails, and our server asked for some flavors she likes in drinks. Then she had the bar make a custom mocktail based on my friend's preferences. Quite a service differentiator! When my friend ordered a second one, they offered to make a new custom one. She loved both. The fries were served piping hot and they were deliciously seasoned. My American burger was HUGE and mouth-watering good. I'd skip the tapenade next time--I prefer a chunkier tapenade where I can control the portion. All in all, a great spot for happy hour.
Simonette was once my go-to happy hour spot, but after my recent experience, that’s no longer the case. On a Monday at 4:45 PM, my two friends and I arrived and were told happy hour lasted all night. Over 2.5 hours, we each ordered a burger, shared two fries (which were overly salty but went unmentioned), and had four glasses of wine each throughout the night. At 7:30 PM, we attempted to order one last glass before leaving, but the server asked if my friend was driving. Surprised, she answered yes, adding that we weren’t leaving the area. The server then stated that four glasses equaled a full bottle of wine per person and consulted the manager, who ultimately refused to serve us and presented the bill. While I hesitate to call this racial profiling, we were the only Black women in the restaurant. I later confirmed that a bottle of wine contains FIVE glasses, meaning the server’s reasoning was incorrect. This suggests we were simply being pushed out, despite causing no disturbance. Monitoring three grown women drinking wine over nearly three hours is unreasonable. Simonette was once a favorite, but I can no longer recommend it. Disappointing treatment of regulars—proceed with caution.
