Beyond their size, small businesses are defined by their spirit. And at the helm are their intrepid founders—scrappy, ambitious, and resilient. They invent and build things despite uncertainty, because it’s what drives them. Their risks lead to innovation that moves the world forward. And we need them.
Massilia is a French restaurant nestled in Santa Monica near third street promenade, featuring a cozy interior and an intimate patio. Our group ordered the steak frites and lamb shank and both were quite delicious. Unlike most steak frites, the steak was thicker and you were able to select the temperature as well. The fries were perfectly crispy and deliciously seasoned. You have the option to get a chimichurri or bearnaise sauce, both of which are excellent options. The lamb shank is a gluten free meal and was so soft it pulled right off to the bone! In terms of cocktails, La Française was a clear winner. Anything with St. Germain is an obvious choice. Our server was very friendly, also French, and such a delight throughout the meal service. I definitely recommend dining here for modestly priced options with great ambiance. (32/50--2024)
A great atmosphere and beautiful restaurant. Such a fun dinner and staff was amazing. The food we got was great but would love to see some more on the menu! With that being said, every dish we ordered was perfection. John Michel was wonderful and made our experience.
We highly recommend Massilia. The restaurant is inviting and comfortable. John Michel is a treasure. He made suggestions and answered our questions. All dishes were excellently prepared. I can recommend the marinated olives, crispy calamari, clams, and the wild mushrooms Pizza. Bon Appetite! Go. You will be glad you did!
Loved Massilia. The interior ambiance perfectly blends elegance and warmth, making it a delightful spot for any occasion. The zucchini gratin and 8 hour lamp shank were the standout dishes. The lamb shank was incredibly, fall off the bone, tender and bursting with flavor, complemented by a savory sauce that tied everything together beautifully. To top it off, the staff was incredibly friendly and attentive, making the experience even more enjoyable. This restaurant is a must-visit!
Massilia is a nice restaurant in downtown Santa Monica. We came for a weekend brunch but it wasn’t too busy and we got a nice spot outside, but far from the street so it was calm. We ate from the Dine LA lunch menu and were very impressed. Cafe drinks and appetizers were standard and had no issues. The bouillabaisse was very uniquely flavored and memorable, and the mushroom pizza was enormous and satisfying. For dessert we had tarte tatin, which was sizable and tasty. I think the food could be more refined, but given the low price we paid for the tasting menu, it certainly met my expectations and I left full, with a few leftover slices of pizza for dinner!
